WALK FOR LIFE FUNDRAISING INFORMATION

How far is the Walk?

For those who would like to walk a good distance, we offer the option to participate in the 5K, only walking. Those who would prefer a shorter walk have the option to walk and easy 1-mile. Whether a 5K or 1 mile stroll, it's the most important distance you will ever walk!

What if I can't Run or Walk on the day of the event?

If you can't walk on the day of our event, no problem! You can walk any day, anytime, anyplace - it still counts! Walk around your block, push a baby stroller with a friend, go roller-skating for life, walk to your mailbox 10 times... it all counts!
*Prizes will only be awarded to Walkers who are in attendance the day of the event.

If I can't run the day of the event, will I still be able to get my ordered T-shirt?

If you ordered a t-shirt and would still like to receive it, please contact the Race Director, Jessica Martin (email: Crossroads5kwalkforlife@gmail.com) prior to the Packet Pick-up date of October 4th to arrange a pickup time. If we have not heard from you by then, your T-shirt will be given out to someone who registered too late to order one.

What if it rains?

Rain or Shine!
The race director has the right and responsibility to cancel the event in case of extreme weather. Check our Facebook page or website for updates.

How do I get donors/supporters?

During the online registration process, you will be able to create a Fundraising Page. You can manage your page and profile. You will also be able to spread the word about your fundraising efforts via email. (Please see "Send a Sample Email" on the resource Tab or CLICK HERE to see what to do.) The best way to get donors is to simply ask or e-mail everyone you know... family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, people at your gym, your clubs, and even people you know out of town! When you ask, "Will you sponsor me as I Run/Walk for Life?" 9 out of 10 people will say "yes". Please check out our "Steps to Success" for other helps for getting sponsors.

Is it a per-mile pledge?

All pledges are "flat" amounts, meaning the donation or pledge offered is the total amount. There is no per-mile fee or cost. All donations/pledges are tax deductible, and sponsors will receive a printed donation receipt if their mailing address is provided to Crossroads.

Do I have to collect the money?

If you register online, your sponsors can pay online using your own personal Fundraising web page which you will have the opportunity to create when you register. (For a sample email, please CLICK HERE). You can send them an e-mail asking them to donate and directing them to your page using an internet link.

If you choose to use a paper pledge form to collect your pledges, please bring it on Race/Walk Day with your pledge form to turn in at the Registration Tent.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, but please remember there will be lots of people around of all ages. Pets need to be on a leash and well-socialized. This makes it nice for your pet, you and others at the event. Also please remember that you will need to clean up after your pet, so please bring necessary supplies.

Can I register as part of a team?

No. We will not be registering teams nor awarding any prizes this year for top teams; only for individuals. (Please note: the website describes those who use your fundraising page as a "Team", but these are not the same as participating teams.)

Do I have to belong to a Church group?

You do not need to belong to a Church group. We want everyone to be able to participate, and there is absolutely no set requirement to run or walk, other than a heart to save babies and change lives!

Where can I get more pledge sheets if I run out?

You can download & print a copy from this site under resources or by clicking here!

If I've registered online, am I also able to raise funds online and post pledges manually?
Absolutely! After you've registered, you will create your personal fundraising web page by following simple instructions. Registering online is easy and fast, and a great way to raise pledges! To register, click here.
